C-53 Invasion Stripes
Warbird re-enactors apply water-soluble paint to the undersurfaces of the wings of a Douglas C-53 from Texas Flying legends Museum at AirVenture 2013 on Monday. The freehand application of paint recreated the expedient nature of original invasion striping added to aircraft before the Normandy invasion in June 1944.
