Thorsness, Leo (Saddlebrook, AZ)
F-100/F-105 pilot with the 357th TFS flying Wild Weasel missions during the Vietnam War; on April 19, 1967 his wingman was shot down and had to bail out - Thorsness remained on station above the downed airman and shot down one MIG-17 and drove off four others whlie waiting for rescue helicopters - was awarded the Medal of Honor for his efforts; shot down on 93rd mission and spent 6 years as a POW in North Vietnam; later served as a Washington State Senator from 1988 to 1992
