Electronics Corner - iPhone app 'PilotWizz'
By Ian Brown, Editor – Bits and Pieces, EAA 657159

This month we introduce you to a handy aviation calculator called PilotWizz. There is a free iPhone app and a version for $9.99. For the Pro version you also get the ability to upload and download aircraft-specific data that you have entered and live weather updating for radar and airmets.
Written by Sean Harding, it appears to originate in the UK, and has more advanced features like holding patterns and route planning. There is a rather neat crosswind diagram showing the whole circuit on one page. Having selected your intended runway and wind direction and speed, you are presented with actual headings for all four sides of the circuit. There is a similar graphic for the holding pattern.
PilotWizz has most of the E6B or CRP-1 functions and also provides Weight and Balance, Fuel Calculations, Conversions and Weather Decoding.
You can find out more about this program at either the iPhone app store or at www.hardingsw.com/PilotWizz/
