SportAir Workshops Come to Canada in May

EAA SportAir Workshops will conduct a pair of courses the weekend of May 4 to 5 in High River, Alberta. They are "Annual Inspections for Amateur-Built Aircraft" and "Test-Flying and Developing the POH for Your Homebuilt". Courses will be held at the High River Regional Airport (CEN-4), located 50 kilometers south of Calgary.

Annual Inspections for Amateur-Built Aircraft

The course objective is to provide the Canadian owner of an amateur-built aircraft enough training to confidently carry out the annual inspection and confirm that the aircraft is in condition for safe flight.

Instruction is based on the maintenance requirements of CAR 625 B and C. Students will experience practical hands-on maintenance procedures.

Course fee: $300 for EAA members and $350 for nonmembers.

Test-Flying and Developing the POH for Your Homebuilt

This is a course that every builder of a homebuilt aircraft should attend. The syllabus is based on proven test-flight procedures, starting with the very first flight and then expanding the flight envelope.

The course is based on the premise that flight profiles are kept within the capability of the novice pilot and homebuilder, but assist in developing the knowledge and experience to make their flying experiences safe, practical, and intimate with the aircraft.

Exercises are designed to help the pilot gather the flight-test data, interpret it, and write it into a pilot's operating handbook (POH) for the specific aircraft. Each student will receive a CD that will help to produce his own specific POH.

Course fee: $300 for EAA members and $350 for nonmembers.

Thanks to Rob Erdos, chief experimental test pilot for National Research Council of Canada, for developing and providing this excellent resource product.
