New EAA Canada Area at Oshkosh

International Visitors Tent

By Jack Dueck, Chairman - EAA Canadian Council, EAA 337912

Canadian visitors to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will have a permanent home beginning at this year's event. We have a 40 foot x 80 foot space next to the International Visitors Tent that is going to be reserved for the Canadian Council permanently. This year we will be sharing a 30 foot by 40 foot tent with the folks from C-PLAN Insurance. We want to find one or two cool Canadian amateur-built aircraft to display in the remaining 40 foot x 40 foot space. If you are bringing such a project to AirVenture, please let me know via e-mail.

If you can make it, Canadian visitors should attend a Monday morning presentation at 10 in our new location called Canadian Activities at AirVenture to get the lay of the land.

Don't miss the Canadian Ice Cream Social which will be held at the same new tent venue on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.

For an event that's full of fun and camaraderie, join in the International Parade at noon on Friday, starting from the International Visitors Tent. Canadians were outnumbered by Brazilians in the parade last year, even though there were 479 Canadians registered versus 216 attendees from Brazil. Please stop by the IVT and say hello or bonjour to all the hard-working volunteers.

As well as the usual full schedule of talks in the Forum Plaza, we have a program of topics of specific interest to Canadians in our new spot.
