SUMMARY
The Homebuilders Community Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation and ongoing management of programs targeted at the aircraft builder and restorer (aka the “craftsman” segment of EAA’s membership). The position performs the role of a Community Manager responsible for representing the needs and interests of the homebuilder community within EAA, and the development of plans and budgets needed to achieve goals. This position will closely work with the Director of Member Programs on strategic issues as well as tactical planning and implementation.
POSITION ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as an internal thought-leader and advocate for the homebuilder/craftsman segment of EAA’s membership.
- Translate EAA’s overall strategic direction for the segment into executable plans needed to achieve stated performance goals, including:
- Work closely with EAA Publications to create and influence the contents of EAA websites, magazine publications, and a new electronic newsletter focused on the needs and interests of the community.
- Be an active participant and leader in the development of the homebuilding community online.
- Manage the Technical Counselor & Flight Advisor programs.
- Be the primary staff liaison with the Homebuilt Aircraft Council, and the homebuilder community at-large.
- Facilitate an appropriate program of homebuilding activities at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
- Be an internal subject-matter expert in homebuilding and craftsmanship issues for all EAA departments work including Aviation Services and EAA Government Advocacy staff.
- Define consistent and accurate measurements to evaluate program status.
- Set objectives and monitor progress.
- Develop and monitor budget results.
- Assist in the development of marketing plans.
- Provide leadership and performance management for direct report(s).
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree is typically required for this position. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- A minimum of five years of project or program management experience within a customer driven organization, and demonstrated ability to improve results.
- Computer skills to include proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Experience with a broad range of internet technology and tools, in particular community oriented features such as messageboards, blogs, wikis, etc. is required.
- Ability to travel (up to 15% with occasional travel for 5-10 days at a time). Some international travel may be required and as such must be able to meet the requirements for international travel. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Aircraft building experience required; restoration experience a plus.
- EAA Technical Counselor and/or Flight Advisor experience preferred.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification with Inspection Authorization preferred.
- Pilot certificate required.
- Strong understanding of EAA and Chapter network required.
