Open Position - Magazine Designer

POSITION ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with team editors and other designers to determine the best arrangement of text and art, select appropriate typography, and create a layout based upon available space and departmental design concepts.
- Work with editors to select appropriate art and images to illustrate articles.
- Create page layouts and process, prepare, and upload files for press digitally via our printer's Insite proofing system.
- Prepare files for delivery to the web and other electronic content mediums.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of computer graphic design equipment and software.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of Mac computer and software programs, including the Microsoft Office suite and the CS3 suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) along with an understanding of templates and style mapping in InDesign.
- Degree in visual communications, journalism, mass communications, design or related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years of design experience, preferably for a magazine publication.
- Understanding of visual communication.
- Aviation background preferred or a willingness to learn the field.
