EAA Webinars Now Eligible for FAA Credits
EAA Director of Member Programs Charlie Becker reports that certain EAA webinars now have FAA credits available for those who participate in those online seminars. The WINGS and Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) credits promote initial and recurrent training for pilots and aviation technicians. This credit availability is an added benefit for aviators through EAA's programs and activities.
EAA Student Members Also Joining AMA
EAA Youth Programs Manager Brian O'Lena reports that a growing number of Young Eagles who become EAA student members are also taking advantage of an option that allows them to become members of the Academy of Model Aeronautics at no charge through their 19th birthdays. Brian notes that 5,000 EAA student members have now also joined AMA since the dual membership offer began last October. This program is part of the continuing effort to bring together aviation organizations to create the next generation of aviators.
Tom Poberezny to Enter San Diego Air & Space Hall of Fame
Congratulations to EAA Chairman Emeritus Tom Poberezny, who will be inducted into the San Diego International Air & Space Hall of Fame on November 5. Tom is being honored for his leadership of EAA, his 25-year air show career, and the creation of EAA's Young Eagles program. Among the other inductees are Apollo astronaut Walt Cunningham, Voyager pilot Dick Rutan, the U.S. Navy TOPGUN school, and World War II pilot Jerry Coleman, perhaps better known as a second baseman for the New York Yankees in the 1950s and a Hall of Fame baseball broadcaster. EAA Founder Paul Poberezny was inducted into the same hall of fame in 1996.

Toy Fly-In Connects Chapter With Community
Looking for an idea that will help promote your chapter and aviation as well as give back to your local community? EAA Chapter 123 (Midland-Odessa, Texas) has tied it all together with the holiday season by hosting an annual Toy Fly-In. Partnering with a local TV station and the Salvation Army, the chapter asks attendees to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the toy drive in exchange for breakfast and Young Eagles flights all morning long. A great way to give back to the community and promote aviation! Watch the 2010 commercial | Watch the 2010 coverage
