Youth Highlight Local Chapter Visit
Recently, Jeff Skiles and I were invited to attend the monthly meeting for Chapter 444 (Northport, Wisconsin), of which I am a member. For my very first chapter visit as EAA chapter manager, I thought, why not choose the chapter to which I belong and where the faces are familiar? It was nice to talk with them about my new role and brief them on everything that is happening at EAA headquarters. Read more

EAA, VAA at NTSB GA Safety Forum
Last Wednesday, EAA vice president of government relations Doug Macnair and Vintage Aircraft Association executive director H.G. Frautschy represented EAA and VAA at the National Transportation Safety Board's two-day GA safety forum in Washington, D.C. Doug and H.G. were on one of the eight panels that presented to the full NTSB board, with a specific focus on aviation maintenance, particularly the ability to bring replacement parts and modern technology to vintage aircraft without the additional burdens of regulations and a long approval process. EAA vice president of advocacy Sean Elliott also attended the conference, which included speakers from throughout the GA community.
'Tis the Season! Camp Scholler Now Open
Campers were lined up early Friday morning to get their favorite locations in Camp Scholler as the drive-in AirVenture campground opened for business, 31 days before the start of the fly-in. Campers arriving at the registration gate entered from the newly opened Poberezny Road, which welcomed traffic on Tuesday after its month-long reconstruction between Waupun Road and Waukau Avenue. We’ll see early campers arrive every day for the next four weeks prior to the start of AirVenture. We look forward to welcoming you back to Camp Scholler!
Budget Cuts Force Brazilian Team to Cancel
Unfortunate news came from the Brazilian "Smoke Squadron" air show team recently, as budget cuts in Brazil have forced this military air demonstration squadron to cancel its North American tour. The team had been scheduled to appear at Oshkosh as well as two air shows in Ohio. While that's disappointing news, this year's air show remains one of the best ever with a number of new acts, such as Team RV and the Canadian Forces SkyHawks parachute team.
Kudos to Our Great Volunteers
Last weekend, we welcomed volunteer work groups from Chapter 1239 (Michigan Upper Peninsula), Chapter 1537 (Siren, Wisconsin), Chapter 237 (Minneapolis/St. Paul), Chapter 897 (Juneau, Wisconsin), and Chapter 93 (Madison, Wisconsin). In addition, we welcomed a Vintage Aircraft Association volunteer group to the grounds. We appreciate the time and effort these members dedicate to readying the site for AirVenture. |

EAA Technical Counselors Here to Help
The EAA Technical Counselor program has a long history, dating back to 1965, when it was called the "Designee Program." Today, there are almost 1,100 technical counselors in seven countries. The use of the Technical Counselor program in your chapter is an excellent way to ensure you are building the best possible airplane under the watchful eye of an expert. Read more |
