Visit to the Academy of Model Aeronautics (in the Remnants of Sandy)
Considering we would be flying over Lake Michigan, we loaded up the Piper Aztec for another Grassroots Pilot Tour and a visit to the Academy of Model Aeronautics. We lifted off from Oshkosh into heavy winds, clouds, and whatever else was left of Hurricane Sandy. Read more

Kick Off New Year With SportAir Workshops
The new year of SportAir Workshops is almost here! The 2013 schedule kicks off on January 26-27 with a weekend at EAA headquarters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, featuring a luncheon with EAA Chairman Jack Pelton and an annual banquet hosted by Chapter 252. Workshops will continue to be added throughout 2013, so check the schedule regularly for updates. Currently scheduled workshops feature:
Composite Construction, Electrical Systems, Fabric Covering, Sheet Metal Basics, Gas Welding, Fundamentals of Aircraft Building, Repairman Inspection and What's Involved in Kit Building. (courses vary by location). Register today or view details by location. You may also call 800-967-5746.
EAA Hall of Fame Welcomes New Members
On November 15, EAA welcomed the newest members of the organization's Hall of Fame
during an induction dinner in the Founders Wing. Those inductees include Wes Schmid
(Homebuilders), Clyde Smith Jr. (Vintage), Taras Kiceniuk (Ultralight), Giles Henderson
(Aerobatic), and Preston "Pete" Parish (Warbirds). We congratulate each of them and thank
them for their many contributions to EAA and to aviation. Read more
Holiday Auction Returns
Again this year, EAA is hosting an online holiday auction as a fundraiser, working in
partnership with the Bidding For Good website. The link to the auction, which runs through December 10, is www.eaa.org/holidayauction. There are unique items available that include
autographed pennants and books, plus unique aviation experiences during AirVenture and at
other times of the year. Auction proceeds directly support EAA programs that preserve our aviation heritage.
Frank Christensen to Speak at Wright Brothers Banquet
On December 14, EAA will welcome Frank Christensen, innovative pioneer in the homebuilt kit movement, as keynote speaker at the annual Wright Brothers Memorial Banquet. The banquet, held in the Founders Wing of the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, commemorates the 109th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first powered flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
