Dean mentioned the participant had attended one chapter meeting and would be attending his second one shortly. This is what the Eagle Flights program is all about! Read more >>

By Lowell Henderson, President of EAA Chapter 123

The Bay Area Recreational Flyers, EAA Chapter 123, in Midland, Texas, did just that during our February 2013 meeting at Wharton Regional Airport. We chose to give our annual charity contribution to Homes for Our Troops (HFOT). Read more >>

The 20th International Young Eagles Day is June 8, 2013. Annually we set aside one day to encourage all EAA chapters and members to participate in the program. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to start planning your event now. If you need help getting started, browse through the Young Eagles Flight Rally Planner. A few tips: submit your event insurance request, list it on EAA's Calendar of Events, and order supplies now to ensure your materials arrive before your event. Finally, don't forget to publicize your event on local websites and/or radio-these are great ways to get the word out and cost you nothing!

International Young Eagles Day Who Introduced You to Aviation?
By Trevor Janz, EAA Manager of Chapters and Eagle Flights

The fourth annual International Learn to Fly Day is Saturday, May 18. This year we are encouraging each chapter to take at least one adult up for an EAA Eagle Flight. The main focus of this program is on one-to-one interaction between a pilot and an adult who has expressed an interest in learning to fly. For this reason, we do not recommend holding adult Eagle Flight rallies. Read more >>

Liesl Wrolstad Are You the 25%?
By Liesl Wrolstad, EAA insurance administrator

We are finally emerging from our deep freeze and seeing the first few signs of spring here in Oshkosh. Fly One Ad 'Fly One' Quarter-page Ad
Who introduced you to flying? On May 18 during International Learn to Fly Day, we are asking all chapters to pay it forward by introducing at least one adult to aviation with an EAA Eagle Flight. Think about it: If every chapter stepped up to the challenge, nearly 1,000 adults would be one step closer to joining our community of aviators. To help spread the message, EAA created this quarter-page ad to include in your chapter's newsletter or on your website. Get image >>

Andrew Strong The Spirit of Aviation - My First Year
By Andrew Strong, EAA Chapter 766 in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin

"The Spirit of Aviation." It's a tagline that appears on top of the EAA website, but what does it mean? And does it exist? A year ago I visited Wisconsin's Aviation Heritage Center to attend my first EAA Chapter 766 meeting with hopes of entering the world of aviation. Not knowing what to expect, I timidly opened the glass doors and was greeted by a group gathering around a food table. I was immediately welcomed into the room and listened with wonder at the stories being told around me. Read more >>

A Q&A session with chapter presidents, leaders, and members.
Chapter 775 EAA Chapter 775 (Mountain Home, Arkansas)
This month we talked to Gerald Garrison, vice president and webmaster of EAA Chapter 775 in Mountain Home, Arkansas, to learn more about chapter life in the Ozark Mountains.

Who makes up your membership?
Our chapter has between 40 and 50 members, many of whom are retired military or commercial pilots. We have at least eight builders currently working on aircraft projects. We also have three members who are licensed A&Ps.

What are some of the challenges your chapter faces?
Age, apathy, and lack of purpose, though not necessarily in that order. To a lesser extent, geographic dispersion and the lack of a youthful population to draw from are also challenges we face.
