By Trevor Janz, EAA 656941

As I write this, only 54 days remain until EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013. It really is amazing how fast the year goes by. The majority of our over 4,500 volunteers are chapter members. Without you, this event would not be able to take place. Read more >>

Chapter 10 Chapter 10 - Learn to Fly Day 2013
With low ceilings and limited visibility, Chapter 10 (Tulsa, Oklahoma) got off to a slow start with its Learn to Fly Day event on June 18, but with several aircraft on display and free hotdogs and cold drinks, we were able to visit with people and help educate them about our sport and our organization. The event was held at our chapter hangar, which is located on Gundy's airport in Owasso, Oklahoma. Read more >>

Tyler Voss Chapter to Finish Fallen Member's Plane
A special project is occurring at the EAA Chapter 79 hangar on Spokane, Washington's Felts Field. About a dozen chapter members are working to complete panel work on the RV-8 owned by a fellow member, U.S. Air Force Captain Tyler Voss, who was tragically killed along with two other airmen when their KC-135 Stratotanker crashed on May 3 in Kyrgyzstan.

Reserve Your Free Spot at Chapter Leaders Breakfast
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh wouldn't be complete without the annual Chapter Leaders Breakfast, set for Saturday, August 3, from 8-10 a.m. in the Founders' Wing located at the EAA AirVenture Museum. Along with a full breakfast and plenty of coffee, we'll also recognize the Major Achievement, Web Editor, and Newsletter Editor awards for this year. There is no charge to attend the breakfast, but please RSVP so we can plan accordingly for food.

Textbook Example of a Successful Eagle Flight
With more than 600 Eagle Flights registered and growing since the launch of the program in July 2012, I wanted to talk to an Eagle Flight participant. I was introduced via e-mail to Dalton Melvin, who received his Eagle Flight in Tom Louris' Cherokee 160. Tom is a member of EAA Chapter 105 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Read more >>

• Finally, our friends at the Academy of Model Aeronautics shared this interesting tidbit: One of its local clubs "adopted" an airplane at a nearby museum. This might be an interesting project for an EAA chapter - anyone out there doing anything similar? Here's a photo gallery of the Miramar Radio Control Flyers polishing a T-34 and enjoying some sunshine.
