Reminder: Plan for AirVenture’s Chapter Morning Sessions

July 12, 2011 –  Be sure to make plans to attend a few (or all) of the Chapter Morning Sessions during AirVenture. Each mini-forum will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday, in the EAA Welcome Center located near ConocoPhillips Plaza on Celebration Way.

The sessions are designed to get your day off to a good start without interfering with all the other activities going on throughout the day. We promise to have you on your way by 9 a.m. A light breakfast will be served starting at 7:30 a.m., with a program to follow at 7:45.

Please make note of the following sessions:

Monday, July 25 – Chapter Leaders Academy Reunion and Flight Plan Update
Hosted by Steve Buss, EAA Chapter Manager, and Brian O’Lena, EAA Youth Programs Manager

This session will bring together those who have participated in past Chapter Leaders Academy sessions for a reunion as well as those who may be interested in finding out more about the sessions. O’Lena will share updates on the Flight Plan that begins with a Young Eagles flight and offers an EAA Student Membership, Sporty’s Complete Flight Training Course, First Flight Lesson, and scholarship opportunities.

Tuesday, July 26 – Twitter, Facebook, and Social Networking
Hosted by Hal Bryan, EAA Online Community Manager

Bryan will guide chapters through the world of social media and discuss how it can enhance a chapter’s Web presence as well as how to select the right Facebook page for your chapter. This session includes a demonstration on how to set up a Facebook page and create a Twitter feed.

Wednesday, July 27 – Building Chapter Membership
Hosted by Barry Elk, EAA Director of Membership Marketing

Elk will discuss both recruitment and retention of chapter members. The EAA Trial Membership program will also be discussed as well as insights on the barriers both perceived and physical that can impact membership.

Thursday, July 28 – Nonprofit vs. Public Charity vs. Tax-Exempt: Sorting Out the Definitions
Hosted by Patricia Arthur, Esq,. of the EAA Legal Advisory Council

Topics covered will include gifts to charities and general reporting requirements, fundamentals of recordkeeping requirements, and an open question and answer period. This is an important session for all chapter treasurers!

Friday, July 29 – Chapter Websites
Hosted by Hal Bryan, EAA Online Community Manager

EAA recently launched the newly created and hosted chapter websites, thanks to the generous support of the Peter Burgher Chapter Fund. This is an exciting, powerful communication tool for your chapter. See a demonstration as well as learn how to personalize and maintain your chapter’s site. This session is highly suggested for all Web editors as well as those newly assigned to maintain your chapter’s website.

We hope you are able to attend many or all of these mini-forums at AirVenture!
