Chapter Activities a Hit at AirVenture
August 9, 2011 – What a terrific week we had at AirVenture 2011!
AirVenture got off to a great start with a mini-forum that brought together Chapter Leadership Academy alumni and featured updates from EAA Youth Program Manager Brian O’Lena on the EAA Flight Plan. Each morning from there started with sessions on such topics as social media, building membership, tax and accounting matters, and new chapter websites.
We were very pleased to see how many chapter leaders and members joined us for the morning sessions. If you were not able to attend the sessions or were not here at AirVenture this year, there will be other opportunities in the weeks ahead to learn more on these topics. Webinar sessions are in the works on the new chapter websites as well as how to accept charitable donations as a chapter.
While AirVenture is definitely an opportunity to attend informational sessions, we also know how to have some fun and celebrate the successes of the year. On Wednesday evening, July 27, chapter presidents had the opportunity to join us for the Ford Chapter Presidents Reception. This is a great evening to connect with other leaders from across the country and check out the outstanding new vehicles that Ford Motor Company had on display.
Thanks to Ford Motor Company for sponsoring the event. It has become a highlight of the week for our chapter presidents and a great way to say thank you for all of their efforts throughout the year.
AirVenture simply would not be complete without the Chapter Leaders Breakfast held Saturday morning, July 30. Chapter leaders gathered in the Founders’ Wing and had the pleasure of EAA Founder Paul Poberezny and EAA President/CEO Rod Hightower joining them for breakfast. Award presentations included the major achievement, newsletter editor, and Web editor awards. With more than 325 members present, this was the biggest group of chapter leaders to have participated in the breakfast.
Thank you to all the chapter members who joined us here in Oshkosh. It was great to say hello to many of you at the chapter building or at the various functions.
