Host Special Events at Your Airport? EAA Seeks Your Input

April 17, 2012 - EAA is working on a Transportation Research Board (TRB) committee to develop a document that can be used by airport managers and event organizers (including chapter leaders) for conducting aeronautical special events on GA airports.

The objective of the document is to consolidate available information and lessons learned in planning, organizing, and conducting an aeronautical special event and then restoring the airport to normal operations after the event.

The committee has selected a consultant who will be doing the actual collection of information, then compiling it into a 50-page document. The collection of the information will be in the form of a survey sent to interested chapter leaders between now and August. If you are interested in completing this survey, send your contact information (name, e-mail address, phone number, and chapter number) to Randy Hansen, EAA government relations director, at rhansen@eaa.org.

So, if you host or conduct any special aeronautical events at your GA airport, we'd like to hear from you. These events can include Grassroots Pilot Tour stops, B-17 and/or Ford Tri-Motor tour stops, SportAir Workshops, LSA Repairman courses, Young Eagles or Eagle Flights events, airport/chapter fly-ins or pancake breakfasts, fly-ins for chapter social events/hangar talks/meetings, community airport appreciation events, or any other aviation event hosted on an airport that is designed to promote the airport, promote your EAA chapter, and/or grow participation in flight.

If you conduct any of these types of events we need your opinions and lessons learned - what works, what doesn't work, and how the airport can be more supportive of these events. Your opinion is critical to ensure the final document is the best it can be.

Your contact information will be shared with the consultant so that he can send the survey directly to you. Just keep in mind that you won't be receiving the survey for at least two months.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
