July 10, 2012 - Many chapters are challenged with recruiting new members and reaching out into the local community to find homebuilders, pilots, and aviation enthusiasts. Summer fly-ins are an excellent opportunity to connect with people who have identified themselves as having an interest in aviation by attending your event.
Don't miss the opportunity to send them home with information on how to come back and participate with your monthly meetings and future events.
Have a welcome table set up with someone to greet your visitors. Simple business cards can be made up to include your chapter's contact information, meeting time and place, Web address, and perhaps a listing of upcoming Young Eagles rally dates. Think about making up a small packet that includes your newsletter, membership application, calendar of events, etc., to hand out to those interested in joining the chapter. Some chapters have had special prize drawings during their fly-ins and collected the contact information of the visitors to not only notify them of their prize but also to invite them to future activities.
Does your chapter have any other recruitment ideas that you do during your events? If so, please share them with the chapter office by sending an e-mail to email@example.com.
