July 10, 2012 - We are just 12 days away from the greatest aviation celebration in the world, your annual convention - EAA AirVenture. To this day, most simply say "Oshkosh."
Please join us for the annual Chapter Leaders Breakfast on Saturday, July 28, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Founders' Wing of the EAA AirVenture Museum. We will be recognizing chapter members for their accomplishments in EAA, chapter newsletters, and websites. Just a reminder: Remember to RSVP.
On Tuesday, July 24, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., we will be hosting a focus group on defining a "best-in-class" chapter. What makes a chapter successful? Come and share your ideas and provide feedback. This meeting will be held at Theater in the Woods.
Chapter forums will be held at Theater in The Woods on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. each day. We will be discussing the new Eagle Flights program, ideas to grow your chapter, and much more. Chapter forums are always a great way to gain knowledge, give feedback, share ideas, meet the EAA headquarters staff, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones.
Please stop by the chapter building (north of the control tower on Knapp Street) to visit. Brenda Anderson will be there each day and she will look forward to seeing you. I will also be at the chapter building from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday through Friday. When not at the chapter building, I will be manning the Eagle Flights program kiosk at the Learn to Fly Discovery Center, across from EAA Welcome Center. Feel free to come by and visit.
I first attended Oshkosh in 1972 with my parents. Ever since then, I cannot wait for the last week in July. I feel, as I am sure many of you do, like that little kid again on opening day. I just finished watching the AirVenture preview video, replaying it several times. Please take the time to watch it and feel the adrenaline rush!
See you at your annual convention! Fly safely.
