Hunting for Fun at Chapter 241
October 16, 2012 - Here in the chapter office we often hear that chapters are looking for new activities to engage their members. Taking advantage of seasonal activities is a great way to bring members together for some fun and camaraderie. All the better if your chapter can include food.
EAA Chapter 241 (DeKalb, Illinois) recently planned a terrific autumn fly-out that included a chili cook-off and an aerial scavenger hunt. While the weather didn't cooperate for the weekend the plans are ready to go to try it again next year.
Safety always comes first and they required both a pilot and a photographer in each plane and then gave a list of "scavenger hunt" locales for each team to find that would be provided at the pilot briefing. The groups would then meet back at the local airport to see who was the winning group and enjoy the chili cook-off. This is a great activity for fall as your chapter can enjoy the fall colors, corn mazes, and some chili too! Check out the event flyer for more details on this idea.
Thank you EAA Chapter 241 for sharing this idea!
