Grow Your Chapter With a Chapter Trial Membership

Recruiting new members is a common aspiration for many EAA chapters in the new year. EAA provides an excellent recruitment tool to accomplish this goal with the Chapter Trial Membership Program. This program allows your chapter to give prospective chapter members a free 6-month EAA general membership trial, which includes the full set of EAA membership benefits at no cost.

So how does it work? After the chapter has identified a person that seems to have a real spark of interest in aviation, the chapter logs into the Chapter Trial Membership webpage and enters the prospect's information to enroll him in the free trial membership.

This is truly a full EAA membership as newcomers will receive EAA Sport Aviation magazine, access to the members-only area of the website, membership discounts on programs like EAA SportAir Workshops, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, and more. On that page you'll also find a Chapter Trial Membership reference guide that provides tips and hints on how to successfully engage the newcomers with this program.

Reaching out to friends at your local airport is a great first step, but we encourage you to think beyond the airport in terms of recruitment. Friends, co-workers, neighbors, and educators are just a few of the people your chapter encounters on a daily basis that could become your next chapter members. Your chapter may also want to consider matching the EAA Headquarters membership with a local chapter membership to further immerse the prospective member in your local aviation community.

After the 6-month trial membership expires, EAA will contact the person in hopes that he will renew his membership and join the EAA family. Hopefully your chapter will have had the opportunity to involve him in activities and programs that entice him to join your chapter as well. Good luck and happy recruiting!
