Chapter 838 Monopoly Night Raises More Than $7,000
By Trevor Janz, EAA 656941 - EAA Manager of Chapters and Eagle Flights
I came across this announcement sent via e-mail by Ken Sack, EAA 523063, membership coordinator for Chapter 838 in Racine, Wisconsin. I'm sharing this with all chapters for consideration as a fundraising idea. According to Ken, the chapter raised more than $7,000 with it. Here's the announcement:
"Chapter 838 would like to invite both you and anyone else from EAA Oshkosh to our 5th annual Monopoly Fundraiser on October 12, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It is a fun social event with food, prizes, and a silent auction.
"On this night, the game (Monopoly) comes alive - even has a police officer taking you to "jail" when you land on jail while playing the game. The jailbird stays in jail to keep you company, but he occasionally escapes until the police officer brings him back. Things like this make the night entertaining; more than 100 people attended last year, and most will attend this year's event."
Ken adds, "Our event isn't just playing Monopoly. It is a fun social event with prizes and a silent auction." There is also a Young Eagles rally that morning.
