Cirrus Design is entering the LSA market. At 9:30 this morning they unveiled, appropriately hidden beneath a parachute, their Cirrus SRS. The aircraft will be produced in conjunction with Fk Lightplanes based in Speyer, Germany, with production facilities in Poland. The aircraft is a low-wing two-place side-by-side aircraft powered by a a 100 HP Rotax 912S engine. First deliveries are expected in approximately one year.  Read more

Eclipse Unveils Concept Personal Jet
Eclipse made a huge splash on opening day with the release of their prototype ECJ, or Eclipse Concept Jet. The 4 place, single engine podded jet went from concept to flight in six months, and has specs that include max cruise speed of 345 knots, a service ceiling of 41000 feet, a 1250 nautical mile range, stall speed of 61 knots, and 186 gallons of fuel.  Read more

Cessna S-LSA a reality
The world's largest general aviation airplane manufacturer, at least as measured by unit sales, is now officially in the special light-sport aircraft (S-LSA) business. Sunday morning at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007, Cessna unveiled its 162 SkyCatcher, its entry into the exploding S-LSA market. Read more  

See what's happening at the Ford Hangar
EAA again welcomes the Ford Motor Company as a major partner of the annual World's Greatest Aviation Celebration, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. Ford's corporate history dates back to June 1903, almost six months to the day before the Wright brothers made their world-changing first powered flight at Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. More than a century later, Ford is still going strong and has an incredible lineup of awesome activities and cool stuff to see and do at the Ford Hangar throughout the coming week here at Oshkosh.  Read more  

Vertical Power to launch new systems
Vertical Power will launch the new VP-200 and VP-200 Duo (supports dual independent electrical buses) systems at Booth 2024 in Exhibit Hangar B. AirVenture.org offers new multimedia features
Recognizing that some people aren't able to attend the big event, EAA has revamped its www.AirVenture.org website by adding audio slideshows, EAA radio, daily photo galleries, editor blogs, and the brand new BrightCove video player, offering EAA members the opportunity to submit their own videos.  Read more  

Dolores Neunteufel to receive first Dorothy Hilbert Award
The first Dorothy Hilbert Volunteer Award will be presented this year, honoring a female EAA volunteer who exhibits the same passion, dedication, and devotion for volunteerism as did the late Dorothy Hilbert. The inaugural recipient is Dolores Neunteufel, who chairs the EAA AirVenture Assistance Center.  Read more

The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration is bound to draw pilots and aviation enthusiasts from every corner of the globe. Inaugural 'EAA Runway' 5K
EAA has joined with the Oshkosh YMCA to host the first 'EAA Runway' 5K. Saturday, July 28, participants of all ages will walk or run the 3.1-mile route around EAA's North 40 on Wittman Road. Event-day registration will be at the Runway 5K tent located just north of the Red Parking Lot on Wittman Road.  Read more

ERAU to hold youth lunch at EAA AirVenture
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will sponsor its first Lunch With The Stars youth barbecue on Friday, July 27, at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007. Attendees can have lunch with the university's sponsored team representatives, including Elaine Larsen (Embry-Riddle jet dragster), Jamail Larkins (Dream Launch Tour), and Matt Chapman (Embry-Riddle Eagle aerobatic plane), along with some of the world's finest aerobatic performers. This event is aimed at middle-to-high-school-aged students who may be considering a future in aviation, as ERAU staff and the performers answer questions about pursuing an aviation education.  Read more

Bonanzas arrive for anniversary celebration
Under cloudless blue skies, more than 100 Beechcraft Bonanzas arrived at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007 Saturday afternoon in the annual Bonanzas to Oshkosh (B2Osh) group flight. This year's mass arrival - kicking off celebration of the venerable aircraft's 60th anniversary - included examples of almost all the 40 Bonanza models built, from a 1947 Model 35 Bonanza, the first year of production, to a 2007 anniversary edition G36 Bonanza, with Hawker Beechcraft chairman and CEO Jim Schuster aboard.  Read more  

Trick Air snow skis releases new model
Trick Air snow skis has designed a ski for multiple models of Maule aircraft that is easy to install (under 20 minutes) without having to remove the wheel or lift the airplane. This makes the aircraft more versatile and able to take off and land on snow or pavement. Trick Air has developed three sizes of skis and a tail ski. The sizes are 1500, 2250, and the 3000 series. The smaller 1500 size skis are certified for use on American Legend Cubs. Getting down to government business at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
Amid all the airplanes and air shows, exhibits and forums, excitement and celebrations at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007, there is another convention. It's one that most visitors never see. But it's an important part of AirVenture and a fundamental part of what EAA is and does for its members, indeed for all of general aviation. Throughout the week in offices, conference rooms, and other quiet corners of the EAA AirVenture grounds, key people will be getting together to talk, to listen, to engage in "a collaborative discourse," working on solutions to the challenges facing general aviation today and in the future.  Read more

ACR introduces GPS personal locator
ACR Electronics Inc. has introduced the MicroFix, a one-button activated, emergency signaling device for aviators and outdoors enthusiasts available at EAA AirVenture. The FCC-approved MicroFix is 35 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than its predecessor, the ACR AeroFix.  Read more  

User-fee debate returns to Oshkosh
The issue weighing heaviest on the minds of most EAAers and the rest of general aviation can be summed up in two words: user fees. While EAAers know their annual convention represents one week out of the year-round proactive advocacy their association accomplishes, user fee discussions will be held throughout this week, and "because the EAA community is made up of aviation's most passionate and active participants, it possesses the credibility, respect, and influence to bring Washington to Oshkosh," added EAA President and AirVenture Chairman Tom Poberezny.  Read more

One of the really cool things about EAA's new online video player is the ability for members to upload and share their own videos. We're going to give that capability a thorough workout during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007, as we announce the first EAA AirVenture Video Competition.
