SALE OF ADAM ASSETS TO
RUSSIAN-EQUITY FIRM APPROVED
The
United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado approved the
$10 million acquisition of Adam Aircraft assets by Russian private
equity firm AAI Acquisition Inc., this week. A spokesman for AAI
Acquisition, part of Russian private equity firm Industrial Investors,
said in a press release that the company plans to "revive Adam
Aircraft's operations, including continuing the process of certification
for the A700 jet." Adam's other aircraft design, the centerline
piston twin A500, had received a Type Certificate (TC) in May 2005. The
Englewood, Colorado, manufacturer ceased operations on February 15,
filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Industrial Investors own Russian
air-taxi operator, "Dexter," and the business jet airline,
"Velvet Club."

SUN 'N FUN TIMELESS
VOICE: TED PATECELL
Ted
Patecell was working at a White Castle restaurant when he first went to
work as a welder for Benny Howard's aircraft factory in Chicago. Ted's
career took him from the Howard Aircraft Company to a brief stint at
Monocoupe where he was an engineering test pilot, to flying the famous
Pan Am Clipper flying boats. Over the years Ted logged over 28,000
flight hours since the mid-1930s. Ted passed away in 2004, but we were
fortunate to capture his
story at Sun 'n Fun 2003.

sponsored by Ford Motor Company and Eclipse Aviation. That area,
adjacent to Camp Scholler, will again provide nightly outdoor movie
entertainment on a large screen for campground residents and others
during the fly-in. While the roster of aviation movies is not yet
finalized, one of the featured films will be a "Members'
Choice," selected through an online poll on the EAA AirVenture
