MAC'S BLOG: No Plane No Gain
Our airplanes often become political targets, but a new program called "No Plane No Gain" announced by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) this week seeks to set things straight. NBAA conducted a large study to find out how companies that use private airplanes have performed since the Great Recession began in 2008 and the results are impressive - companies that operate airplanes have outperformed in every way those who don't fly.

AERObridge Starts GA Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts
AERObridge is heading a limited activation in response to Hurricane Sandy. The NBAA-endorsed organization is coordinating donated aircraft to bring first-response donations to Farmingdale (FRG), New York, where they will be picked up and transported via truck to Staten Island and Lower Manhattan to assist 5,000 children and disadvantaged families. 500-Plus Aircraft Highlight 40th Copperstate
The 40th annual Copperstate Fly-In & Aviation Expo enjoyed a larger-than-expected turnout of aircraft, great weather, and a good gate attendance last weekend at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport in Arizona. The fly-in started with a bang on Thursday with the largest number of aircraft and attendees in the fly-in's eight years at Casa Grande. Read more >>

Chapter 677 Marks Record Year for Young Eagles
Chattahoochee Valley EAA Chapter 677, based at Columbus Airport (CSG) in Columbus, Georgia, reached a major milestone at its October 27 Young Eagles rally. The 43 kids flown that day pushed the chapter's 2012 total to a record 500, more than doubling last year's effort. The chapter had something special in store for No. 500. Read more >>

EAA Attends Important Step in Part 23 Reform
EAA participated in the first meeting of the ASTM International F44 Technical Committee last week in Atlanta - a group charged with providing industry consensus standards for the certification of standard-category general aviation aircraft as an alternative to the current FAA-prescribed certification process. This effort takes the lessons learned from the successful use of consensus standards for light-sport aircraft (LSA) and applies them to the rest of the GA fleet. Read more >>

Strong Response on New Mexico Seaplane Ban
EAA and its members voice strong opposition to a proposed ban on seaplanes from New Mexico's state park system. Following an advocacy e-mail alert to EAA members in the state and an e-Hotline story last week, many members submitted their written comments to the New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD). Frank Christensen to Speak at Wright Brothers Banquet
On December 14, EAA will welcome Frank Christensen, innovative pioneer in the homebuilt kit movement, as keynote speaker at the annual Wright Brothers Memorial Banquet. The banquet, held in the Founders Wing of the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, commemorates the 109th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first powered flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. International Art Contest Call for Entries
The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) is again sponsoring the International Aviation Art Contest for young people ages 6-17. Entries in the U.S. begin at the state level, and the NASAO Center for Aviation Research and Education is managing the U.S. portion. Where to send entries. The theme for this year's contest is "My Favorite Air Sport." Entries are judged in three age classes - Junior (ages 6-9); Intermediate (ages 10-13); and Senior (ages 14-17).
