MAC'S BLOG: After 75 Years Piper Gets it Right
The hoopla over the 75th birthday of the Cub has almost buried the fact that this year is also the 75th for the company. The J-3 Cub, and every one of its descendants, is long gone from production, but the company, Piper, soldiers on. At Piper's anniversary party last weekend, dozens and dozens of Piper owners flew in for the shindig. The ramp had lots of yellow Cubs, but there was a representation of just about anything and everything that Piper built over the years, which is a pretty amazing variety.

EAA Safety Efforts Aim to Lower GA Accident Rate
EAA is continuing to lead and collaborate on a variety of programs that are focused on lowering the general aviation accident rate, with efforts that range from aircraft construction to pilot decision-making.
These EAA initiatives, both long-standing programs and new partnerships with other aviation organizations and industry members, are aimed at a single goal: Enhancing GA safety. They also show the continuing work of the GA community to raise safety awareness as the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) studies ways to improve aviation safety. Read more >>

Airport Project to Benefit Access, Improve Safety

Help Us Repair Aluminum Overcast
As we reported earlier this year, EAA's cherished B-17 bomber Aluminum Overcast sustained significant damage during a hail storm while on tour in Denver last June. Repairs were made to the fabric-covered control surfaces and the airplane was able to complete its scheduled appearances in 2012. However, some 1,000 dents in the aircraft's sheet metal surfaces - 177 deemed significant - now need to be repaired. SeaRey Earns LSA-Compliance
The SeaRey LSA amphibian recently passed its FAA Light Sport Aircraft Prototype Audit and will begin immediate production of a ready-to-fly version, according to manufacturer Progressive Aerodyne, Inc., (PA). After receiving approval, PA obtained an airworthiness certification from the Orlando MIDO on November 8. Read more >>

EAA's Annual Christmas in the Air December 3
Get into the holiday spirit in an uplifting setting as EAA hosts "Christmas in the Air" from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 3, at the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh. This free community event for all ages will feature a festive holiday atmosphere, complete with performances by local musical, choral, and dance groups. Read more >>

Busha Takes Over as Vintage Editor
On September 1, Jim Busha took over as editor of the new Vintage Airplane magazine, official publication of the EAA Vintage Aircraft Association. Busha, editor of EAA Warbirds of America magazine for the last five years, will continue in that role as well. Read more >>
