MAC'S BLOG: ADs Instead of Good Maintenance
The FAA has issued an AD requiring inspection of the stabilator control system of all Piper Cherokees, Lance/Saratogas, Senecas, and Seminoles that are 15 years old and older. The FAA estimates that the AD applies to about 34,000 airplanes in the U.S. What is troubling to me about this AD is that it requires an inspection that is already required by the normal maintenance rules.

8,000th Van's Flies
On Monday, Stephen Watson of Santa Clarita, California, reported that he flew the 8,000th Van's Aircraft kit airplane to be completed. Stephen's airplane is an RV-7A, powered by a Lycoming IO-360 turning a Hartzell constant-speed propeller. Read more >>

EAA is creating a more effective way for members to contact their congressional representatives and alert them to key GA issues through EAA's new "Rally Congress" website, which will launch next week.

CAFE's EAS VII to Be Held in April
The seventh annual CAFE Electric Aircraft Symposium (EAS VII) will be held April 26-27 at the Flamingo Resort in Santa Rosa, California. Sponsored by the CAFE Foundation, the symposium's theme is "Transforming Transportation With Electric Aircraft." Read more >>

Nominations Sought for EAA Homebuilders, Ultralight Halls of Fame
EAA is seeking nominees the Homebuilders and Ultralight halls of fame for induction into the class of 2013. This honor provides permanent recognition for the designers, builders, educators, pioneers, record-setters, and others who made a substantial impact in the homebuilt and ultralight movements. Induction ceremonies are held at the EAA Aviation Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in the fall of 2013. Download Homebuilders and Ultralight halls of fame nomination forms. The nomination deadline is March 1, 2013.
