In Memory of 'Shorty' Rankin
Robert J. "Shorty" Rankin, highly decorated "Double Ace" fighter pilot from World War II, passed away this past week, and we're paying tribute by featuring his Timeless Voices interview conducted in 2007. Rankin was credited with five Me 109 kills in one sortie - on May 12, 1944 - and beginning at the 6:40 mark of the video, he describes in detail how it happened. Watch video >>

Harrison Ford Harrison Ford Addresses House GA Caucus
Harrison Ford, former EAA Young Eagles chairman, was the featured speaker in an open briefing of the House General Aviation Caucus Tuesday afternoon on Capitol Hill. Robert Rankin Robert 'Shorty' Rankin Leaves Behind Historic Milestones
Col. Robert J. "Shorty" Rankin, the first P-47 pilot to destroy five German Me 109 fighters in a single mission, passed away at his winter home in Jensen Beach, Florida, on March 14 at the age of 94. Read more >>

B-17 Aluminum Overcast Nearly Ready for 2013 Tour
Recent work by staff and volunteers is inching EAA's B-17 Aluminum Overcast ever-closer to being ready for the 2013 tour season, which opens next month, April 25, at Torrance, California's Zamperini Field. Over the past weekend, a group of 10 volunteers from Chapter 132, Elkhart, Indiana, were at the plane's winter home. Read more >>

Astore LSA Tecnam to Unveil Astore LSA at AERO Next Month
Tecnam announced this week it will introduce a new light-sport aircraft, the Astore, at next month's AERO 2013 Friedrichshafen in Germany. Tecnam, which marks its 65th anniversary this year, calls the Astore "an all-new, two-seat, low-wing aeroplane that offers superlative performance." Read more >>
