EAA Petitions Federal Court on FAA ATC Charges
EAA today filed a petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago,
asking the court to review and provide relief from payments demanded by the Federal Aviation Administration in relation to air traffic control services at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. Read more >>

Ford Mustang Ford Creates Thunderbirds Mustang for Young Eagles
Young people dreaming of flight will benefit from the work of Ford Motor Company's engineering and design teams, who have produced a unique U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang GT. This car will be donated by Ford to be sold at the Gathering of Eagles charity event on Thursday, August 1, during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013. Read more >>

The Vintage Aircraft Association is gearing up for a week for the ages at AirVenture with a plethora of rare aircraft, anchored by the Round Engine Rodeo airplanes that, according to organizers, is approaching 50 confirmed airplanes and could reach upward of 75. Read more >>

Quad City Ultralight Aircraft Corp., makers of the Challenger series of ultralights, homebuilt light aircraft, and LSA kit aircraft, celebrates its 30th anniversary of making light aircraft this year and EAA is asking all Challenger owners to fly into Oshkosh for AirVenture 2013 to help celebrate. Waco EQC-6 Another Pemberton Gem Heading for Oshkosh
See 1936 Waco EQC-6 in Vintage area
Addison Pemberton, owner of Pemberton & Sons Aviation based at Felts Field in Spokane, Washington, has restored and rebuilt more than 16 vintage airplanes. Perhaps the most noteworthy was the 1928 Boeing 40C reproduction that was completed in 2007 and flew away with the Gold Lindy at Oshkosh in 2008. Read more >>

Lark of Duluth Lark of Duluth Replica Receives Airworthiness Certificate
On the 100th anniversary of the original's first flight, the Benoist (pronounced BEN-wah) Type XIV replica Lark of Duluth flying boat was certified airworthy by the FAA in Duluth, Minnesota, clearing the way for its participation at Duluth's Lark O' the Lake Festival on July 12-14, 2013 and at EAA's AirVenture Oshkosh 2013. AirVenture is just around the corner and now is the time to shop, bid, and win in our online auction! Women Soar Women of Flight Highlight Women Soar You Soar
Space is still available for high school-aged girls to apply for EAA's Women Soar You Soar program that will introduce 100 girls to 35 women August 1-4 during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013. Debby Rihn-Harvey, a three-time U.S. Overall Aerobatic Champion and 14-time U.S. Women's National Champion, is the 2013 Women Soar You Soar chairperson. Read more >>

National GA Awards to Be Presented August 1 in FAA Safety Center
This year's National General Aviation Awards presentations during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will feature a new venue as the awards will be presented at AirVenture's FAA Safety Center beginning at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, August 1. Plans are also being made to broadcast the event live on FAASTeamTV.

Anonymous Donor Doubles Karen Johnson Scholarship Award
The Karen Johnson Scholarship provides funds to two aspiring female aviators between the ages of 16 and 20 to help pay for flight training up to their first solo flight. The first prize of $3,000 has been matched by an anonymous donor and the first prize recipient will now be awarded $6,000 to help fulfill her dream of flight. The scholarships will be awarded by the Ventura County Ninety-Nines and EAA on Friday, August 2, during the WomenVenture Power Lunch at the Theater in the Woods. The application deadline for this scholarship has been extended to July 15, so share this information with any young women you know who dream of flight! View complete list of EAA scholarships >>

Glasair Sportsmans Student-Built Glasair Sportsmans Coming to Oshkosh
Two groups of high school students from Michigan and Minnesota successfully completed their respective projects of completing the production of a Glasair Sportsman as part of the Two Weeks to Taxi program at the Glasair factory in Arlington, Washington. Read more >>

I landed a job writing for a big New York City-based aviation magazine in the 1970s. I had grown up and learned to fly in the Cleveland area, so I wasn't exactly a small-town boy, but New York was still a new experience in almost every way. I was flying with a much more experienced pilot returning home from one event or another. The chance to fly with experienced pilots instead of being tossed into the system on my own was one of the luckiest breaks I have had in a fortunate life.

Zenith Blog Update ZENITH BLOG: Plane Leveled and Wings Rigged!
The latest work session for EAA's Zenith project had a number of staff members and volunteers joining together to get the airplane leveled and the wings rigged. Adjustable seats for the aircraft were built and work was done on the area under the fuselage at the gear channel. The team also got started on rudder attachments. EAA, AOPA Urge Survey Participation for Medical Exemption
EAA and AOPA continue their joint efforts to have the FAA grant a third-class medical exemption for private pilots who fly noncomplex aircraft, and you can help. The petition was submitted in March 2012, and the two organizations recently received indications that the FAA sought more data related to the rate of medically related incidents among pilots flying under sport pilot rules.
