Sean D. Tucker honors Chicago pilot

Sean D. Tucker performed one of his first official duties as EAA's new Young Eagles chairman Thursday at the Chicago Air and Water Show Media Day held at the Gary/Chicago International Airport (GYY). There he presented Ken Rapier, EAA 453453, with a leather bomber jacket to honor Ken for flying 1,000 kids through the Young Eagles program. Read more >>

FAA Responds to EAA Young Eagles Petition
This week the FAA responded to an EAA petition, filed in April 2012, which would allow volunteer private pilots flying Young Eagles to be reimbursed for fuel consumed during sanctioned Young Eagles events. Read more >>

WW1 Rplica Aerodrome World War I Replica Aerodrome Taking Form in Ohio
An Ohio EAA member is in the process of transforming an 11-acre cornfield into a World War 1 French aerodrome east of Dayton, just north of U.S. 35 on Brickel Road in a town called Jamestown. As next year marks 100 years since the outbreak of World War I, it's a timely undertaking. Read more >>

Proposed AD Demands Removal of Thousands of ECI Titan Cylinders
The FAA has issued a proposed AD requiring the early retirement of thousands of ECI Titan cylinders used on Continental big bore engines. The FAA estimates the total bill for airplane owners would top $82 million if the AD becomes final. The FAA says the AD would address problems of cylinder head cracking or cylinder head-to-barrel separation in the ECI cylinders that are manufactured under parts manufacturing authority (PMA). September Swing Flash Back to the 1940s at First-Ever September Swing
Relive the excitement and glamour of the 1940s at EAA's September Swing on Saturday, September 28, at the EAA AirVenture Museum's historic Eagle Hangar in Oshkosh. This big band hangar dance will feature the sounds of Ladies Must Swing, an all-woman, 19-piece jazz band from Madison, Wisconsin. Learn to swing dance (or practice your skills) from 7:30 to 8 p.m. and then dance the night away among an authentic collection of World War II planes, vehicles, and artifacts.
