J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: Flying Through the Government Shutdown
When I drove past the control tower on the way to my T hangar on Tuesday morning the parking lot was full and the tower's lights were on. It was Tuesday, October 1, the first day of the federal government shutdown. The controllers were all there, as promised. FSS was answering the phone. ATIS was up and broadcasting and ground control answered immediately when I called for a clearance.

Zenith Blog Update ZENITH BLOG: Tanks, Floors, and a Cookout
EAA's Zenith CH 750 project team got back at it this week, working on the fuel tanks, getting the rest of the cabin floors drilled to size, and riveting some floor stiffeners and gussets. The previous week they took a night off by attending the EAA Employee Flying Club cookout (although several team members snuck away to get some things done on the project).

Experimental Fatal Accidents Fall Dramatically in 2013
The number of experimental category aircraft fatal accidents fell by 25 percent in fiscal year 2013 according to FAA figures. Year-to-year fatal aviation accidents involving experimental aircraft totaled 55 during FY 2013, down from 73 in 2012. Lives lost this year totaled 70 people compared to 85 in 2012 - an 18 percent decrease. Read more >>

Copperstate Fly-In Copperstate Fly-In & Aviation Expo Is Fast Approaching
Planning and preparation for the 41st annual Copperstate Fly-In & Aviation Expo is well underway at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport in Casa Grande, Arizona. Organizers are hoping to build on last year's successful event that drew more than 500 aircraft and 5,100 attendees from 10 countries and 39 states. Copperstate 2013, whose theme is "Keeping the Dream Alive," runs from October 24-26. Read more >>
