More RV-12s in Production
Last October Van's Aircraft announced complete factory-built RV-12 special light-sport aircraft for sale - a first for the popular kit plane manufacturer. That first batch of 12 airplanes, built exclusively by Synergy Air of Eugene, Oregon, sold out quickly. This past week Van's and Synergy announced a new batch is in production, and it's accepting orders for delivery positions.

Employee's Passion Fuels Special Video
Chris Henry of EAA's membership services department is a self-confessed B-17 "nut" - an affliction that began after learning of his grandfather's service as a B-17 pilot during World War II. Chris, who works with EAA's B-17 tour ops booking flights, got an idea for a side project after learning of other folks' personal connections with B-17s. Seeing comments like, "My grandpa was a B-17 pilot in the war," and, "My uncle did 35 missions in one," gave him the idea to delve further and ask people for their stories. Read more >>

J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: Shakers and FAA Training
The FAA has rolled out a huge new batch of rules requiring expanded simulator training for airline pilots. The rule change is largely the result of the turboprop regional airline crew that got slow on approach and pulled back on the stick when the stall warning stick shaker activated instead of reducing back pressure on the controls. So the new rules will require pilots to train for something they already know and practice - lower the nose when the shaker fires.

Mid-Air Crash Video Shows Harrowing Mid-Air Crash
Incredible video of Saturday's midair collision in Superior, Wisconsin, appeared on NBC News Monday and the Today show Tuesday morning, showing how extremely fortunate the nine sky divers and two pilots are to be alive today. The video footage, whose rights were acquired by NBC, shows a Cessna 185 carrying five sky divers colliding with the top of a Cessna 182, which had four jumpers on board, at about 12,000 feet altitude. e-Go First Flight for Britain's e-Go
A new single-place European canard airplane called the e-Go made its first flight last week in Norfolk, U.K., according to an announcement from e-Go Aeroplanes, Cambridge. The company states that e-Go was designed to fill a gap between a microlight and a light aircraft, and is the realization of a design creator Giotto Castelli has been working on for the past decade. Insurance Tip: Check, Double-Check, Then Check Again
One thing is for certain in the aviation insurance industry: Nothing stays the same for long. The airplane or pilot one aviation insurance company is willing to insure today may not be insurable tomorrow - or even later the same day. I've seen aviation insurance companies change their pilot check-out or transition training requirements many times. I have also seen decisions made at a moment's notice to start offering insurance for a certain airplane - or stop insuring another type of airplane. Why do aviation insurance companies change their underwriting requirements and insurance quoting? Read more >>
