Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for being a member of the world's most passionate aviation community! So that our Members Services staff can enjoy time with their families, the department will be closed November 28-29 (Thursday-Friday). Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m-6 p.m. CST; Saturdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. CST; Sundays, closed. We are open on the web 24 hours a day. The museum will also be closed on Thursday.

You can renew your membership online and our general inquiry e-mail address is always open for business - membership@eaa.org. We will respond promptly the following business day as listed above.
(There will be limited monitoring of e-mail inquiries on our closed days.)

J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: More Head-Down Time Needed
For the past many months there has been a hue and cry about pilots relying too much on automation and spending too much time with their heads down in the cockpit. Well, there is at least one Boeing "Dreamlifter" crew that wishes it had spent more time looking inside their cockpit. If they had, they would have landed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita instead of at Jabara a few miles to the north.

Zenith Blog Update ZENITH BLOG: Doors, Brakes, and Rigging Controls
The Thanksgiving holiday means no Wednesday work session this week, but the team made significant headway last Saturday on a number of projects. With the B-17 in Green Bay preparing for its Sunday flight over Lambeau Field, there was plenty of room to get things done, like getting a start on the rigging controls, working on the door panels, and the brakes.

Reno Reno Air Races Looks for Help With Fiscal Woes
The Reno Air Racing Association (RARA) announced this week that it needs to raise a half-million dollars by mid-December to ensure the event will go on as scheduled on September 10-14, 2014. Read more >>

Dodo Chapter Honored for Young Eagles Efforts
The Chicago "DODO" Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen was honored recently for its efforts on behalf of the EAA Young Eagles program. The chapter's Young Eagle Volunteer Team, which provides flights to young people ages 8-17 from the Gary International Airport, was inducted into the Northwest Indiana Society of Innovators on October 17. The group was also honored with the Chanute Prize for team innovation. The honors are sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College Northwest. Read more >>

Harison Ford Scholarship Harrison Ford Flight Training Scholarship Available
As chairman of EAA's Young Eagles program for five years (2004-2009), Harrison Ford made a wonderful contribution to the general aviation community. Angela and Jim Thompson created a scholarship honoring his enduring legacy on behalf of youth and general aviation. This $7,500 scholarship helps young people achieve their dreams of flight and is available to Young Eagles who are enrolled in the Sporty's Learn to Fly Course offered as part of the Young Eagles Flight Plan. Application deadline is December 31, 2013. Apply today!
