J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: Snow Depth but No Depth on Landing
Snow is on my mind. My snow blower has been in daily use for weeks here on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. My airport, Muskegon County, has recorded more than 90 inches of snowfall so far this winter. Flying in the snow is a huge risk for VFR because snow, even moderate snow, cuts visibility to almost nothing. You may as well be inside a cloud as to fly into a snow shower.

Zenith Blog Update ZENITH BLOG: Engine Bolted On, Cowling On
Sometimes on your project you work and work and work...and not much seems to happen. Other times, like Wednesday night at the EAA staff Zenith project work session, you work a bit and BANG! Big leap forward. Volunteers started the night with the motor mount bolted on the firewall. And by the end of the session, the cowling was also in place - a big step forward toward a complete airplane. Read more >>

Deadline Approaches for GAMA-BAP Aviation Design Challenge
Teachers and high school-age students interested in competing in the 2014 Aviation Design Challenge must register by February 14. Sponsored by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) and Build A Plane, this aviation design contest promotes science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education in high schools across the United States, with the winning school receiving an all-expenses-paid, two-week trip to Arlington, Washington, to help build a Glasair Sportsman aircraft through the company's Two Weeks to Taxi program. EAA Skiplane Fly-In EAA's Skiplane Fly-In Could Have Record Turnout
Fresh snow and cold temps are good signs for EAA's annual Skiplane Fly-In, which is set for Saturday, February 8, at Pioneer Airport in Oshkosh. We have more than 40 airplanes registered thus far, ranging from Aeroncas, Avids, and Bellancas to assorted Cessnas, Taylorcrafts, and others - not to mention a whole lotta J-3 Cubs - which could result in the largest turnout ever for the annual mid-winter event.
