Ford Ole Yeller Mustang to Land in Support of EAA Youth Education Programs

July 26, 2016 - For the ninth straight year, the Ford Motor Company has created and donated a unique Ford Mustang to be sold, via live auction, at the Gathering of Eagles. This year, Ford presents the Ford Ole Yeller Mustang.

The unique Ford Ole Yeller Mustang celebrates the legendary P-51 Mustang and its extraordinary pilot Bob Hoover.

Hoover, who is often credited with revolutionizing modern aerobatic flying, made Ole Yeller, one of the most recognizable P-51s. It was made famous as the official pace and safety plane for the Reno National Championship Air Races Unlimited Class for more than 20 years and for its 1,000 Air Show performances in the United States, Canada and Mexico, thrilling millions of spectators.

Built on the incredible Shelby GT350 Mustang, the Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang will feature a 5.2L Ti-VCT V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft – the most powerful naturally aspirated engine Ford has ever produced – plus a specially tuned suspension. And the vehicle will come equipped with plenty of custom decoration and interior customization to deliver a unique and valued product to benefit the future of aviation.

Ford auction vehicles have collectively raised $3 million in recent years to support EAA’s youth education programs, including Young Eagles. The Young Eagles program has provided free introductory flights to nearly 2 million young people since 1992, helping grow the next generation of aviators.

The spectacular Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang will be on display all week at the Ford Hangar.

To participate in the auction, candidates must prequalify by contacting the EAA donor relations department by email: donor@eaa.org or phone: 920.230.7741.

A Mustang GT convertible will be raffled Sunday, July 31, at 3 p.m. at the EAA AirVenture Welcome Center. Proceeds also benefit EAA youth education programs, including Young Eagles. Raffle tickets are available at various locations on the EAA AirVenture grounds, as well as in the Ford Hangar, for $100. Raffle tickets sales are limited to 1,500.
