July 22, 2014 – Women attending EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014 are invited to join Women in Aviation, International (WAI); The Ninety-Nines; and EAA for the 7th annual WomenVenture. The Wednesday, July 30, event is packed with fun networking opportunities and events intended to unite and empower women of all ages in the aviation community.
WAI’s Connect Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. in the EAA Nature Center and will feature guest speakers and door prizes. Tickets are $15 per person through July 23 and may be ordered online at wai.org or by calling WAI headquarters at 937-839-4647. After July 23, tickets can be purchased at WAI’s booth No. 2041 in Hangar B for $20 each.
WomenVenture participants will assemble at 11 a.m. on the Boeing Plaza for the annual group photo. As in past years, limited-edition WomenVenture T-shirts will be available to all women who participate (while supplies last). Those T-shirts can be picked up at the EAA Welcome Center on the AirVenture grounds beginning on Monday, July 28. Women are encouraged to wear the T-shirt for the group photo on July 30 to show the collective strength of women involved in the aviation community.
The WomenVenture Power Lunch follows the group photo at Theater in the Woods. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased on-site or through the EAA website. This year’s featured speaker is Debbie Travis King who is a B-29 (FIFI) and B-24 (Diamond Lil) pilot. Debbie was the first woman to pilot a B-29 in 70 years when she flew the Commemorative Air Force’s FIFI at AirVenture in 2013.
Dr. Peggy Chabrian, president of WAI said WomenVenture grows in popularity each year. “With the support and camaraderie WomenVenture provides, we have a host of success stories of women who identify WomenVenture as the tipping point in their aviation interest,” she said.
