Passion ignites the second a young person takes hold of the yoke for the first time. As the airplane lifts off the ground and becomes one with the sky, dreams come true. EAA has been allowing the opportunity for young people ages 8-17 to become Young Eagles for more than 20 years. The first flight is just the beginning, as the program is comprised of a Flight Plan that continues to spark interest, challenge, inspire, and help thousands of young people reach their potential and follow their dreams. Future innovations in the aviation industry surely begin with this program. We can only hope that joining us that evening will excite you to make an investment in our future and the future of tomorrow’s leaders.
This evening brings together 1,100 people of all ages, corporate and individual sponsors alike, into a transformed Eagle Hangar. Since its inception the goal of the event was to help fund EAA programs, including EAA’s flagship program–Young Eagles. In pursuit of support to get youth their first flight many aviation icons have taken the helm of the Young Eagles program. The following have leveraged their passion for flying to the next generation of aviators:
- Cliff Robertson (1992-1994)
- Gen. Chuck Yeager (1995-2003)
- Harrison Ford (2004-2009)
- Captain Sully Sullenberger and First Officer Jeff Skiles (2009-2013)
- Sean D. Tucker (2013-present)
Approximately $20 million has been donated to EAA’s programs in the last decade from the leadership of these fine aviators, table sales, corporate sponsorships, and fantastic auction lots. Together we have given the gift of flight to so many. Imagine the possibilities of everything we can accomplish in the next 20 years.
