November 21, 2013 - American Legend's Super Legend has been was approved by the FAA as a special light-sport aircraft (S-LSA), the company reported this week. The Super Legend is a beefier version of the Legend Cub, powered by a 115-hp Lycoming O-233 engine and boasting a useful load of nearly 500 pounds.
According to American Legend, the Super Legend cabin is wider than traditional Cubs, clamshell doors are standard on both sides, and typical configuration includes electronic flight displays, night VFR capability, and more.
The airplane is also available as an experimental amateur-built kit including the same airframe/wing structure and certifiable to 1,750-pound gross takeoff weight. Pricing starts at $146,800. Learn more on the American Legend website and Facebook page.
