August 29, 2013 - The passing of EAA Founder Paul Poberezny last week confirmed the depth and breadth of admiration that people from all walks of life had for him. Tributes from aviation enthusiasts and others, organizations, and companies around the world came pouring in and continue to do so.
The Poberezny family and EAA staff greatly appreciate the thoughtful and kind words expressed by everyone over the past week.
EAA received hundreds of messages on its Facebook page and the news story of Paul's passing, as well as countless e-mails. On August 22, EAA.org experienced more than two times the normal traffic and set a record for unique visits to the site as people visited Paul's tribute section. Other organizations also released heartfelt tributes and condolences to Paul's family and EAA.
A special video produced and posted earlier this week provides a touching tribute about Paul's life and honors his unique contributions to aviation. In addition, EAA.org's Gone West contains Paul's official obituary, including a memorial guestbook where visitors can sign and leave a message for the family.
The entire front page of the August 23 Oshkosh Northwestern was dedicated to coverage of Paul's passing.
October's EAA Sport Aviation will be dedicated to Paul, including an extended cover story.
