Santa Claus is coming to town in an Eipper GT-400 in this photo by Carl Bleichner which was first published in the December 1993 issue of EAA Experimenter magazine. The vehicle was Reserve Grand Champion Ultralight at EAA Oshkosh 1987. If your sleigh is propelled by a pusher prop instead of eight flying reindeer, use caution when delivering candy or packages by airdrop. As always, observe FAR 91.15, which states: “No pilot in command of a civil aircraft may allow any object to be dropped from that aircraft in flight that creates a hazard to person or property. However, this section does not prohibit the dropping of an object if reasonable precautions are taken to avoid injury or damage to persons or property.” Unfortunately we lost Carl to an industrial accident in 2001. He will long be remembered by his family, friends, and fellow chapter members. He will always be remembered in this photo and with a brick in the EAA Memorial Wall next to the Fergus Chapel.
