ULPower Aero Engines Appoints U.S. Distributor

ULPower Aero Engines of Belgium has announced the appointment of ULPower North America LLC as its exclusive distributor for sales and service in the United States and Canada. The company manufactures a line of direct-drive, air-cooled, horizontally opposed, fuel-injected engines ranging from 97 to 130 hp intended for use in light aircraft and rotorcraft. Robert Helms, based in Lake Ozark, Missouri, will distribute the engines through dealers and through manufacturers with firewall-forward packages.

The engines are a result of the attempt by several individuals and their companies to engineer a modern technology lightweight aircraft engine in the traditional format. The engine first flew in 2005 and has been adapted to a wide variety of airplanes. Information on the manufacturer’s website www.ULPower.com includes photos of over 25 aircraft already flying or currently installing their engines. A fully aerobatic 107-hp version of the engine can be seen flying in this exciting video of the aerobatic team Twister Duo. The company expects to be exhibiting at Aero in Friedrichshafen, Germany, in April and at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2011.

ULPower also announced its first OEM relationship with Zenith Aircraft Company and said, “…we look forward to working with other manufacturers as well as individual builders to bring their dreams to fruition with a stronger, lighter, and more efficient powerplant installation.” A Zenith CH 750 first flew with a ULPower engine one year ago, as seen in this video.
