Paul Mather, president of M-Squared Inc., has announced that an engraved stainless-steel plaque in honor of Sharon Wescott will be dedicated at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in a brief ceremony at the ultralight area. The plaque will be attached to a bench in her honor. He invites her many friends to gather at Oshkosh and remember the pilot, instructor, mechanic, and tireless friend who would help any pilot in need. She was taken from us by cancer on April 16, 2010.

Sharon was a dealer for M-Squared aircraft, and a longtime friend and associate of ultralight pioneer Jack McCornack. She served as U.S. microlight team assistant at two world microlight championships and as official steward at two U.S. national microlight championships, and had many other adventures. Sharon often attended AirVenture Oshkosh and the Sun ’n Fun Fly-In at Lakeland, Florida, and helped out at the M-Squared aircraft display booth.

Sharon was well known for her willingness to drop whatever she was doing in order to help another pilot in need. She assisted anybody who needed assistance and helped anybody who needed help. The bench and plaque are expected to be located in the rest area in front of the ultralight barn where tired pilots can rest for a time. In this way her memory will continue to assist pilots in need. She would have wanted it that way.
