'Planes, Manes and Automobiles' Ready to Roll at EAA on July 1

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. - (June 12, 2006) — Automobile and aviation enthusiasts alike are counting down the days until EAA's highly anticipated "Planes, Manes & Automobiles" event. The show will be held Saturday, July 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the EAA Aviation Center grounds in Oshkosh.

The event, presented by EAA and the Midwest Mustang Association, was created to celebrate two legendary "Mustangs" in transportation history - The North American P-51 "Mustang" fighter plane from the World War II era and the Ford Mustang motor car. The show also includes other Ford vehicles from throughout more than 100 years of Ford Motor Company history.

Auto entrants will be eligible for judging in one of the 24 separate categories, plus have an opportunity to have their vehicles photographed with one of EAA's classic P-51 fighter planes, or an A-4 jet from the 1960s. There are also lunch and afternoon driving "cruise" options available to participants.

Making a special appearance at "Planes, Manes, and Automobiles" will be Milwaukee native Jerry Ritzow's Saleen S7 and Ford GT. Also, Dan Hickey of Illinois will be showing his 1991 Ford Mustang convertible, custom painted to resemble a blue-nosed P-51 from the famed 352nd Fighter Group. Among those attending will be Larry Jewitt, esteemed writer from National Mustang Enthusiast Magazine.

Complete registration details are available through the EAA AirVenture Museum web site at www.airventuremuseum.org/mustangs. Event registration is $20, which includes museum admission for all vehicle occupants. Spectators are welcome to attend the event, which is included in regular museum admission.

In addition, event organizer Mike Jaber has launched a website at www.mustangshow.net detailing event information, registration links and a slide show highlighting last year's show. This event is also supported by Action Printers, Rainbow Screen Printing and Racette Ford of Oshkosh.
