Local couple to receive Henry Kimberly Leadership Award at event
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. - (October 19, 2006) — Only a limited number of public tickets remain for the EAA Halls of Fame induction dinner on Friday, Oct. 27, which this year features Eclipse Aviation CEO Vern Raburn as the main speaker.
Raburn, who TIME Magazine named as one of the "100 Most Innovative People" of the 21st Century, is a pioneer in the new Very Light Jet movement. The Eclipse 500 jet, which received FAA certification at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2006, offers speed and convenience for business travelers at a price that revolutionized the marketplace. Before founding Eclipse Aviation, Raburn was one of first two dozen employees at Microsoft, eventually working as president of its Consumer Products Division. He also was executive vice president of Lotus Corporation and played an integral role in the launch of the Lotus 1-2-3 software.
Also at the event, Oshkosh residents Fred and Carol Stadler will receive the Henry Kimberly Spirit of Leadership Award for their volunteer efforts on behalf of EAA and the community. The Stadlers have been longtime volunteers at EAA and during the annual EAA AirVenture fly-in. The award, named for renowned Oshkosh business leader and EAA supporter Henry Kimberly, recognizes volunteer efforts among Oshkosh-area residents. As part of the award, the Stadlers will receive a $1,000 prize that can be designated toward any of EAA's programs.
