EAA Fighter Pilot Forum Replaces Tuskegee Airman Presentation on March 7
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. - (March 6, 2007) — Due to last-minute cancellations, the EAA AirVenture Museum has replaced its Tuskegee Airman presentation on Wednesday, March 7, with a special "Fighter Pilot Forum" featuring two Oshkosh-area military veteran pilots. The program begins at 7 p.m. in the museum's Gann Exhibit area and is open to the public. This event is free to attend, but a free-will donation is appreciated.
Featured will be Paul Poberezny, EAA founder and Chairman of the Board, who was a military flight instructor in numerous aircraft during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and Gene Chase, who flew a variety of combat aircraft as a U.S. Navy aviator for more than a decade.
Poberezny is best known as EAA's founder and president, but has nearly 30 years of distinguished military service as a pilot, test pilot and a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Prior to retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Paul became the only man in the armed forces to attain all seven aviation wings the military had to offer.
Chase received his military flight training near the end of World War II, then flew as a naval aviator until 1958. His experience includes such aircraft as the Corsair, Bearcat, Grumman Panther and Banshee. Over the past 30 years, he has also become an authority on vintage aircraft and an award-winning aircraft restorer.
The change in presenters for the March 7 program became necessary when Tuskegee Airman Richard Macon, the scheduled presenter, was forced to cancel because of medical concerns.
