Back By Popular Demand: Eclipse Aviation and Ford Motor Company Bring The Beach Boys to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. - (April 11, 2007) — One of the top opening-day highlights in the history of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will be repeated in 2007, as AeroShell Square will be full of "Fun, Fun, Fun" on Monday, July 23, when the Beach Boys return by popular demand, compliments of Eclipse Aviation and the Ford Motor Company.

The encore performance, free of charge to all AirVenture guests that day, will start at 5:30 p.m. at AeroShell Square, adjacent to the Ford Motor Company Hangar.

"Last year's Beach Boys concert was successful beyond all expectations, and we had many, many requests from EAA members and others for another opening-day concert," said Tom Poberezny, EAA president and AirVenture chairman. "Through the support of Eclipse and Ford, we are able to bring the Beach Boys back in 2007 to round out an extraordinary opening day at Oshkosh."

Like EAA AirVenture, the Beach Boys are a quintessentially American original that has gained a devoted international following through the past 40-plus years. Led by co-founder Mike Love and longtime band member Bruce Johnston, the Beach Boys are among the most recognizable performers in music history.

"Eclipse Aviation is excited to partner with the Ford Motor Company in making this year's opening-day at EAA AirVenture a fantastic event for everyone involved," said Vern Raburn, Eclipse Aviation president and CEO. "Last year's concert was a major highlight, and helped further establish AirVenture as a destination for aviation enthusiasts and their families. This year, the Beach Boys, combined with the Eclipse and Ford sponsored Fly-In Theater will allow more people to experience aviation in a way that only AirVenture can present it and yet offer more entertainment for the entire family."

The Beach Boys have sold more than 100 million albums over the past four decades. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) in 2001. The band also continues touring today, playing their magical "California surf sound" at more than 100 dates per year.

The Beach Boys' opening-day concert at EAA AirVenture 2006 was attended by an audience estimated to be in excess of 10,000, despite threatening weather for the outdoor event. The efforts of Eclipse and Ford also have made it possible for the return of the popular Fly-In Theater, which welcomed thousands of AirVenture guests last year for nightly aviation movies shown under the stars on the AirVenture grounds.

"Eclipse and Ford are bringing the Beach Boys back to AirVenture to say thanks to EAA members for making them welcome at Oshkosh and as part of the organization," Poberezny said. "These companies share EAA's passion for innovation, technology and the high standards that are personified in EAA's unique culture, which is so evident during AirVenture."
