EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Website Vastly Expands Video Coverage; www.airventure.org Takes You There!
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. - (June 21, 2007) — A major new offering is now part of the comprehensive website dedicated to planning for, announcing, and covering EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, "The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration," at Wittman Regional Airport on July 23-29. Using Brightcove video-streaming technology and with support of partner organizations Microsoft and Rotorway, the website - www.airventure.org - seeks to enhance the virtual experiences of an estimated one million Web visitors leading up to and during the weeklong event, and millions more throughout the entire year.
"This is more than the simple addition of a new feature; this is an exciting new dimension in how EAA shares valuable knowledge and information among our community of aviation enthusiasts," said Tom Poberezny, EAA president and AirVenture chairman. "Our members and the public are seeking richer and more immediate multimedia content delivered via the Internet."
The airventure.org site will present several video segments before the event, and in-depth coverage during the event in as many as five daily programs. The content will include news, updates, highlights, historical flashbacks, interviews, human interest stories, videotaped events and presentations, and more.
"Of course, our online video programming will never replace the actual experience. To fully appreciate AirVenture, you just have to be here. However, our coverage will open a wider aperture on the event for those who are unable to attend," Poberezny said.
Following the conclusion of AirVenture 2007, EAA will expand online video programming into its various other Web domains. "Using this increasingly influential medium, we will make even better use of the talents and capabilities of our award-winning EAA Television unit," Poberezny said.
Consistent with EAA's from-the-ground-up orientation, the programming plans also include EAA-member participation. The Brightcove technology will enable EAA members to post their own video creations. "These user-generated videos will capture the essence of EAA and 'Oshkosh' - our unique culture of sharing and camaraderie - to paint a vibrant picture of who we are and what we're all about," Poberezny said.
EAA encourages members to bring their camcorders to AirVenture and to local aviation activities throughout the year. More information on the submission of user-generated videos will be available on the EAA websites in the weeks ahead.
