February 3, 2006 — EAA President Tom Poberezny is attending the annual Sport Aircraft Association's 2006 SportAvex in New Zealand this weekend. This event is the largest gathering of homebuilt, microlight, and recreational aircraft in the country and is held every two years.

Poberezny participated in a forum with John Jones, the New Zealand director of civil aviation. Poberezny has also met with Bill Sisley, Sport Aircraft Association president, and discussed the relationship between their countries' respective regulators and the aviation organizations.

The EAA president later met with Robbie Gentry, one of the founders of the Amateur Aircraft Constructors Association (AACA), which is the predecessor to the Sport Aircraft Association; and Rex Kenny, CAA sport and recreation manager.

Poberezny was the special guest speaker at the SportAvex Wings Awards Dinner on Sunday, February 5.
