Noted RV Assembly Instructor Joins EAA SportAir Workshops
SportAir Workshop Instructor Dan Checkoway
March 30, 2006 — Dan Checkoway, who got his start in homebuilding after attending an EAA RV Assembly SportAir Workshop, is now an instructor for SportAir Workshops in Corona, California. After that first workshop, Checkoway completed a Van's RV-7 about two years ago that he now keeps at Chino, California. He is also an active EAA Technical Counselor and Flight Advisor, and has been involved with numerous homebuilt aircraft projects.
"Dan is a great addition to our program," said Charlie Becker, director of EAA SportAir Workshops. "It is really satisfying to see a student take our RV Assembly class, build their RV, and eventually return to instruct others in pursuing their building dreams."Checkoway is a contributor for Kitplanes magazine and has written an extensive series of articles on metal kitplane construction methods. He is a commercial multi-engine and instrument-rated pilot with over 2000 hours of flight time.
Dan plans to make his very first trip to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this year.
