Preparations are well under way for next week's Arlington EAA Regional Fly-In
Preparations are well under way for next week's Arlington EAA Regional Fly-In.

June 29, 2006 — The largest EAA regional fly-in, the Arlington EAA Fly-In, gets under way next week, July 5-9, at Arlington Municipal Airport, Washington. Apart from the well-known features-a full slate of forums and workshops, exhibits, air shows, etc.-Arlington has planned some new attractions for 2006 attendees.

EAA brings its Light-Sport Aircraft Mall to showcase the new LSA-qualified aircraft. Experts from EAA will be on hand throughout the week to answer questions and conduct presentations. What's more, sport pilot student pilot certificates will be available Thursday through Saturday at no charge to attendees.

The Washington Seaplane Pilots Association will host a "splash-in" on Lake Goodwin, just 7 miles west of the airport with camping and related amenities at the Lake Goodwin Resort. A shuttle bus will run between the splash-in and the fly-in Friday through Sunday.

Returning in 2006 is Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection featuring rare World War I and World War II planes. A part of the exhibit is a display of artifacts and information about the restoration process. Fly-in attendees can get half-price tours of the entire collection Thursday through Sunday.

You'll want to see the night air show with fireworks at dusk Friday, followed the next night by the Hot Air Balloon Night Glow. For the latest information, visit www.NWEAA.org.
