Aviation Institute Of Maintenance Comes Through For EAA SportAir Workshops

March 29, 2007 — EAA's SportAir Workshops faced a dilemma earlier this year when a facility scheduled to host its March 3-4 courses in Dallas became unavailable unexpectedly. With more than 70 students enrolled in four separate courses - composites, fabric, electrical, and sheet metal - SportAir Coordinator Mark Forss had to scramble to seek out another suitable facility. Fortunately, he was able to connect with officials at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance, which made its Dallas Love Field Campus facility available to host the workshops.

"We're very grateful to the Aviation Institute of Maintenance for stepping up to the plate and making their Dallas facility available," Forss said. "Thanks to them, we did not have to cancel the sessions, and EAA members as well as other aviation enthusiasts registered were able to attend their workshops as originally scheduled. The AIM faculty and staff worked hard to make the weekend a pleasant and positive experience for the attendees."

Forss said he would like to explore cooperative arrangements with other AIM locations throughout the country. The institute is ACCSCT-accredited and FAA-approved, with eight schools in Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. To learn more, visit www.aviationmaintenance.edu.
