'Aluminum Overcast' Departs to Start 2008 Tour

'Salute to Veterans' Begins in N. Las Vegas

March 26, 2008 — EAA's B-17 bomber, Aluminum Overcast, departed Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Wednesday morning en route to the first of nearly 60 locations comprising the 2008 "Salute to Veterans" national tour. First stop: North Las Vegas Airport (VGT), where EAA Chapter 163 of Las Vegas, Nevada, will host the historic WWII bomber's first public appearance of the year this weekend, March 28-30.

The tour's first leg includes more than 20 stops in six states through early June. Following the annual homecoming to Oshkosh and participation in EAA AirVenture (July 28-August 3), the airplane heads back out through the late fall.

Flight "missions" are available at each location, allowing people to take flights in this spectacular aircraft. For more information regarding these flights, including ground tour and flight rates, visit www.b17.org or contact EAA's B-17 Tour Office at 800-359-6217.
